Google is releasing a brand-new app for Canon 3DS printers that can make 3D models in seconds.
The app, which was first spotted on the Google+ page for Canon’s 3D printing service, allows users to create and export files with their favorite CAD software, as well as other files they’d like to use to print objects, according to the Verge.
The software will work with all Canon printers, not just the ones that support the Google Glass app, but can be used with other software that supports 3D modeling.
The new 3D model creation tool lets users draw and print 3D objects in seconds, which is nice, since the process typically takes minutes, even if you’ve spent a few hours drawing on paper.
The new 3DS software is available for both iOS and Android.
The latest 3D CAD software for 3DS, called Maya, has a long history of being available on Windows computers, but the Canon app is the first to integrate the latest version of the software with the company’s desktop 3D printers.
The company hasn’t released any plans to add other 3D print apps to the platform in the near future.
The company hasn’s been making significant progress with 3D technology in recent years, and it is currently using the technology to create many of the world’s most recognizable objects, including the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, and other landmark buildings.
